Overview
Siel Bleu is a growing organisation with ambitious plans for future expansion of its services throughout Ireland. It is a registered charity and social enterprise operating as a company limited by guarantee. Siel Bleu utilises Adapted Physical Activities (APA) as a means to help improve the physical, social and mental health of Ireland’s older adults, those living with physical or intellectual disabilities.
The board of directors of the company are also trustees of the charity. To help us grow we need experienced individuals who are energised by our mission to join our Board. We are particularly keen to recruit members with the finance skills.
Major Responsibilities- Organisational leadership and advisement
- Organisation of the board of directors, officers, and committees
- Formulation and oversight of policies and procedures
- Financial management, including adoption and oversight of the annual budget
- Oversight of program planning and evaluation
- Personnel evaluation and staff development
- Review of organisational and programmatic reports
- Promotion of the organisation
- Fundraising and outreach
Length of term:
Three years, which may be renewed up to a maximum of three consecutive terms, pending approval of the board.
- The board of directors meet five times per year. Meetings typically last 2 hours.
- Additionally, board members are asked to attend no more than two special events or meetings per year, as they are determined.
- Attend and participate in meetings on a regular basis, and special events as able.
- Be alert to community concerns that can be addressed by Siel Bleu Ireland mission, objectives, and programs.
- Help communicate and promote Siel Bleu Ireland mission and programs to the community.
- Become familiar with Siel Bleu Ireland finances, budget, and financial/resource needs.
- Understand the policies and procedures of Siel Bleu Ireland.
