About Bayou City Fellowship

Bayou City Fellowship is a gospel‑centered church committed to being radically focused on Jesus, serving our city and the world, and starting new churches. We are a multi‑campus church located in the Houston area with a heart for prayer, discipleship, community, and Mission.

Position Summary

The Executive Pastor will help the Senior Pastor manage the operational & organizational aspects of the church. The role may be summarized as one that strengthens and implements existing operational practices, establishes new systems, processes and practices where necessary, and facilitates effective ministry to ensure that our mission is carried out with excellence and humility. There is also an aspect of the pastoral function that is inherent in this role and therefore, this role may be viewed as one that provides operational leadership through a pastoral framework to create a healthy, growing, and spiritually vibrant church.

The Executive Pastor will provide operational leadership for both tactical and strategic aspects of the ministry. While the Executive Pastor will be expected to attend all global elder meetings, he will not be a member of the elder board. Our preference is for the Executive Pastor to be based out of the Spring Branch campus.

  • Support the launch of new ministry initiatives, outreach opportunities, and collaborate with the Senior Pastor to identify & track meaningful metrics, evaluate ministry effectiveness, and plan for future growth.
  • Interface with the Elder Board to ensure elder governance & oversight while enabling sufficient autonomy and creative freedom for pastoral and operational staff.
Operations & Administration
  • Oversee central support teams & functions (Finance, HR, Communications, Facilities, IT), ensuring that they are effective in supporting ministry.
  • Manage operations to enable collaboration among campuses and ministries to accomplish the church’s mission.
  • Help plan and participate in Leadership Team meeting to ensure that they are productive.
  • Help plan and organize monthly all‑staff meetings.

  • Work with the direct‑report staff to enable them to focus & flourish to their full potential, serving with their gifts and capabilities.
  • Guide and direct implementation of staff performance reviews and development plans.
Qualifications Spiritual
  • A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ marked by humility, integrity, and a heart for prayer.
  • Commitment to Scripture, servant leadership, and shepherding the local church.
