Position: Paralegal - Contract

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the DOJ Accredited Representative, including scheduling, filing, and preparing documents.
  • Assist clients with intake, gathering documentation, and completing immigration forms.
  • Translate and interpret between English and Spanish for clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Maintain and organize case files within the case management system.
  • Greet clients and volunteers during in‑office information sessions and assist with workshops.
  • Outreach and coordinate with community partners, churches, and referral sources as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to advance the mission of SERJobs.
  • Assist in making recommendations to the Program Coordinator regarding program services.
  • Stay abreast of best practices and changes of immigration law, regulations, and policies.
  • Assist with development/management of program budget and be responsible for making requests for materials and supplies not to exceed approved budget expenditures.
  • Work with program staff and the Program Coordinator to ensure program goals are being met.
  • Under general supervision of the Citizenship Program Coordinator, be responsible for meeting all performance goals of the grant.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
  • Adapt to other duties as assigned as services grow and change.
  • Analyze program and follow up to verify quality and ensure activities and services achieve stated objectives and outcomes; revise program goals and objectives to meet changing needs.
  • Participate in solicitation of funding requests from outside sponsors.
  • Create presentations, summaries, and other helpful materials to ensure better communication and company‑wide understanding of the program.
  • Manage deadlines and progress across the team to ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from program participants to gauge satisfaction and success.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required; maintain quality and timely data entry per grant specifications.
  • Actively participate in regular staff meetings and trainings and aid development of positive team relationships.
  • Provide support to other core programs, including cross‑training in other service areas, assist with special projects and other tasks deemed necessary to achieve overall goals.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma equivalent; associate degree, Paralegal Certificate, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably with immigrants.
  • Experience in soft skills and life skills training preferred.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and experience working with diverse populations and communities in need.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational and administrative skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and electronic communication.
  • Able to work with general direction and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from program staff and members.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for instruction.
  • Genuine compassion for underserved and vulnerable individuals and families.
  • Interest in working within a nonprofit or ministry‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to represent SERJobs’ values with professionalism, empathy, and grace.
  • Strong initiative, flexibility, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Interest in pursuing a long‑term career in law, social justice, immigration services, or nonprofit work.
