CAPP Intern

Summary

The Community Awareness and Prevention Program (CAPP) Intern supports AVDA’s outreach, education, and community engagement efforts while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit prevention work. The intern will assist with community outreach activities, represent AVDA at community events, and help maintain the community contacts database. Responsibilities may include conducting outreach research, assisting with communication and resource distribution, maintaining domestic violence statistics, helping prepare reports, managing prevention survey data, and organizing outreach materials and supplies.

The intern will work closely with the Outreach Coordinator to support the planning of initiatives such as the AVDA Open House, Teen Summit, and Law Enforcement trainings, while learning about prevention programming and community partnership development.

• Represent AVDA at community events by staffing information tables at health fairs, resource fairs, social service and educational conferences, AVDA-hosted events, and other community events, including evenings and weekends.
• Support outreach efforts to expand prevention groups and presentations in the Aldine, Humble (North), Atascocita (Northeast), and Spring (Northwest) areas.
• Conduct research and compile area information to identify new community contacts, organizations, and partnership opportunities.
• Coordinate brochure distribution and drop-offs to community partners when requested.

• Serve as a substitute presenter for education and prevention groups when needed.
• Support the Outreach Coordinator in planning and coordinating key initiatives such as the AVDA Open House and Teen Summit.
• Assist the Outreach Coordinator with scheduling and planning Law Enforcement trainings.
• Attend assigned monthly committee meetings.

• Maintain and manage the database of community contacts.
• Enter all contacts acquired through outreach activities into the database.
• Coordinate and assist with mail-outs using the community contacts database.
• Maintain and update domestic violence statistics for both adult and youth programs.
• Prepare quarterly crime rate reports.
• Maintain, organize, and track prevention survey data for presentations, programs, and evaluation purposes.

3.Possession of general office skills, such as word processing, file maintenance, data entry, and business writing

4.Knowledge of copy machines and other general office equipment

1.Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds occasionally

2.Visual and listening skills are essential to successfully process personal and telephone communications where needed.

3.Must be detail orientated and possess strong concentration abilities

4.An essential function of this position is reliable transportation.
