Position: Sr. Advisor - Area Development (Houston, TX)

Job Overview

As a Senior Advisor, Area Development for the South Texas region at ALSAC, you will lead acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship strategies to grow giving and exceed revenue goals for St. Jude donors and supporters throughout the Houston market. Your work will drive the success of signature events, media partnerships, and volunteer leadership initiatives that generate millions in revenue and support life‑changing research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute iconic signature event experiences that transcend expectations, from intimate gatherings to grand galas.
  • Lead and manage revenue‑generation events such as the St. Jude Houston Golf Classic and the Houston Crawfish for a Cure, as well as media partnerships with iHeart Houston, KKBQ 93Q Country, and KMJQ 102.1 Majic St. Jude Radiothons.
  • Manage the year‑round support and cultivation of media partners, executing 2‑ to 3‑day Radiothons that drive a minimum of $2.2M in revenue.
  • Recruit, cultivate, and manage high‑profile committees, volunteers, and corporate sponsors to secure new donors and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Oversee a blended portfolio of 75‑100 corporate, individual leadership, and volunteer donors, ensuring retention and growth through personalized stewardship.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet defined KPIs, monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Leverage fundraising expertise to empower volunteers and donors, providing motivation, direction, and resources across personal visits, correspondence, and electronic platforms.
  • Analyze donor interactions and engagement data to tailor personalized touchpoints and ensure timely, relevant communications.
  • Represent ALSAC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in all interactions, upholding the organization’s commitment to excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in fundraising, development, customer service, or sales;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver multi‑million dollar events (dinners, galas, golf tournaments) with strong growth rates and expense ratios.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders.
  • Strong relational skills, including building enduring donor and volunteer relationships and cultivating community partnerships.
  • Experience in fundraising, philanthropy, and event management, including committee, board, and corporate engagement.
  • Strategic mindset focused on increasing revenue, engaging volunteers, and securing new donors.
  • Existing relationships within the corporate sector and skills to prospect new corporate sponsors and donors.
  • Experience managing executive volunteer leadership committees.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 15‑20%, including nights, weekends, and periodic travel to Memphis, TN.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment from the Houston, TX territory office.
