Summary:

The Astros Foundation is seeking enthusiastic and community-minded individuals to support the planning, coordination, and execution of its community outreach initiatives. Key responsibilities include administering charity ticket programs, operating the Astros Foundation Literacy Launcher mobile literacy van, and engaging with Astros fans through email, phone, and in-person interactions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and customer service skills, a passion for community engagement, and the ability to represent the Astros Foundation in a professional and positive manner at public events.

Essential Functions
:

  • Serve as a knowledgeable and professional ambassador for the Astros Foundation by promoting its mission and programs, responding to inquiries, providing accurate information, and fostering positive relationships with fans, community members, and stakeholders.
  • Support the administration of the charity ticket program in collaboration with internal departments.
  • Safely drive and operate the Literacy Launcher mobile literacy unit, ensuring adequate inventory and readiness for community activations.
  • Engage with elementary school students and families by assisting children in selecting age- and reading level-appropriate books while promoting literacy.
  • Represent the Astros Foundation at schools, youth sports organizations, community centers, and special events.
  • Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown to ensure successful community outreach activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Charismatic personality with ability to interact positively with fan base and actively engage all guests.
  • Goal oriented; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to comfortably and persuasively promote literacy.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate;
    Interest in sports philanthropy.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and a good driving record.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

This position regularly supports community outreach activities at schools, youth sports organizations, community centers, Daikin Park, and special events throughout the Greater Houston area. The role involves frequent interaction with students, families, community partners, and Astros fans and includes work in both office and event settings. The noise level is typically moderate but may be elevated during events and stadium activities.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively, including talking, hearing, and seeing. This role requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 40 pounds, assisting with event setup and breakdown, and operating the Astros Foundation Literacy Launcher van.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time/seasonal position. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including; extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Travel:

The position will require travel to support community outreach activities and events.
