The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands‑on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non‑profit, voluntary health organization.

We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team. As an intern supporting fundraising initiatives including Heart Walk, Go Red for Women, Heart of Houston, and other market campaigns, you will gain hands‑on experience in fundraising, volunteer engagement, prospect research, donor stewardship, corporate partnerships, campaign management and related event support as needed. The intern will support the Development Team in advancing the American Heart Association's mission through fundraising initiatives, community engagement, and campaign activities that contribute to the success of these impactful efforts.

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

• Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.

• Support the Development Team with planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, and volunteer engagement activities, including Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and Heart of Houston.
• Conduct prospect research and compile information on potential corporate and community partners.
• Assist with data entry, report generation, and record maintenance in Salesforce, Tableau, and other fundraising systems.
• Prepare meeting materials, presentations, and campaign collateral to support fundraising initiatives.
• Provide administrative support for volunteer committees, including meeting preparation, scheduling, and follow‑up.
• Assist with outreach and communications to volunteers, sponsors, and community partners as directed by development staff.
• Assist in developing and updating marketing materials for campaigns including save the dates, invitations, volunteer rosters, and other needed collateral to assist in campaign promotion.
• Support the development of print, TV and social media content.
• Provide support for special events and campaign activities, including pre‑event preparation and post‑event follow‑up as needed.
