Overview
As a Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center work within the Telemetry / Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery Unit, which provides care to individuals undergoing complex procedures such as esophagectomies, pneumonectomies, pulmonary resections, and vascular interventions. This role supports a high acuity environment where specialized post operative care and continuous monitoring are essential.

The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, an active RN license, and at least 12 months of recent experience in a medical/surgical, telemetry, or ICU setting. Shifts available are days and nights. Shift
Hours:
7p – 7a or 7a – 7p including rotating holidays and weekends required. There are 3 x 12 hour shifts for a total of 36 hours per week.

Patient Care Management
- Assess patient needs and determine required nursing and multidisciplinary interventions
- Provide care using clinical competency, compassion, and adherence to safety practices
- Administer medications, perform procedures, and manage emergency situations
- Use technology and clinical systems to support patient care
Collaboration & Care Planning
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical teams, patients, and families to plan and evaluate care
- Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning and coordinated services
- Serve as an advocate to uphold patient rights
Documentation & Systems Use
- Document care according to established standards
- Access, input, and retrieve information from electronic systems
Coaching & Team Support
- Train, coach, and assist team members to promote efficient use of resources
- Participate in assisting team workflow and patient care priorities
Research & Quality Improvement
- Integrate findings from research studies into practice
- Participate in data collection for ongoing studies
Other Duties

- Required:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. - Preferred:
