Summary
Functions under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, interfacing with medical and clinical services. Serves as a liaison between the Director of Nursing and Nursing staff. Plans, implements, directs and evaluates nursing care provided to all patients. Provides exceptional care to our patients through assessment, monitoring and communicating observations to the essential members of the treatment teams.
Essential Job Functions- Provides orientation and training to all new nursing staff on shift.
- Serves as the shift supervisor for all nursing care in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
- Develops and initiates the Nursing Care Plan.
- Facilitates therapeutic nursing or health groups.
- Provides clear and complete client documentation.
- Implements Physician Orders.
- Administers medication as prescribed.
- Counts narcotics daily, logs appropriately.
- Performs primary first aid and determining need for physician notification.
- Consults with physician and psychiatrist to ensure appropriate medical interventions.
- Assists with scheduling nursing staff.
- Ensures Medication Administration Records (MARS) are completed in electronic medical record system and ensures that all narcotic logs are completed each shift as directed by policy and regulation.
- Communicates with BHT staff and serves as a link to clinical team to provide care to patients.
- Assesses psychological and medical issues, prioritizing and reporting to the proper clinical staff and leadership.
- Responsible for leading staff and delegating responsibilities in a positive and professional manner in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
- Completes medical and nutritional assessments upon admission, chemical dependency and suicide history, documenting all issues appropriately.
- Assigns admissions and ensures admissions and discharge protocols are being maintained.
- Handles administration, maintenance, and documentation of medications per DBH and facility policies and procedures. Ensures medications are destroyed after discharges.
- Promotes restoration of health, patient and family education and serves as a patient advocate.
- Administers TB testing to patients in accordance with Department of Health and facility and DBH policies.
- Maintains, adheres to and promotes infection control measures.
- Responsible for maintaining safety and security of patients, staff, and medications.
- Coordinates emergency medical care for medical and psychiatric emergencies.
- Works with multi-disciplinary team to resolve patient issues, while also being able to work autonomously.
- Completes reports on unusual incidents.
- Covers shifts when needed to ensure appropriate nursing coverage.
Full‑time position.
Shift: 6:45 pm – 7:15 am (3 days, 1 week, 4 days, 1 week).
Schedule:

Work Location:
Houston, TX.
- Must be a graduate of an approved nursing program with a current licensure from an appropriate state licensing board. RN preferred; LVN/LPN required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- One year experience preferred working in mental health, substance use, or eating disorders field.
- Ability to draw blood required.
Compensation: $43–53 per hour.
