Pediatric ECMO Specialist Registered Nurse (Nights)

Houston, TX

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Licenses /

Certifications:

  • Current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years prior ECMO Specialist experience
  • Prior experience working with Pediatric and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patient populations
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care tailored to the unique needs of pediatric and neonatal ECMO patients.
  • Operate and manage ECMO life-support equipment during emergent clinical situations.
  • Coordinate care planning and treatment delivery within an interdisciplinary healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate, direct, and delegate responsibilities within the healthcare team based on evidence-based standards of care.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate patient discharge and transfer plans.
  • Engage in ongoing process improvement initiatives and systemic program evaluations for enhanced patient care delivery.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to the Texas Board of Nursing standards.
  • Monitor patient safety, staff safety, and adhere to policies, procedures, and standards of performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and timely communication regarding patient care plans.
  • Foster professional development through continuing education, mentorship, and preceptor roles as needed.
  • Promote a patient-centered care environment aligned with the organization's mission of compassionate and personalized healthcare delivery.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of nursing practice and clinical competency.
