Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner in General Medicine Houston, TX

We are seeking highly qualified Locum Nurse Practitioners specializing in General Medicine to join our team. This opportunity offers flexible, part-time engagement to support veteran healthcare across the country, including specific assignments in the Houston, TX area. What You’ll Do:

Conduct one-time non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans.

Perform interview-based assessments with some physical examinations, including range of motion and muscle strength testing.

No prescribing or treatment involved—focus on evaluation and reporting.

Complete exams efficiently within four-hour or eight-hour shifts.

Submit detailed reports and addendums promptly.

Work on a PRN basis with flexibility to choose half-day or full-day assignments.

Required Skills:

Current Nurse Practitioner license in Texas or the ability to obtain.

Background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related general medicine fields.

Experience with veterans' healthcare, compensation, or pension exams preferred.

Excellent communication and assessment skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong organizational skills for timely report submission.

Nice to Have

Skills:

Prior experience performing Compensation & Pension examinations.

Familiarity with medical documentation and reporting procedures.

Additional certifications relevant to general medicine or veterans’ healthcare.

Preferred

Education and Experience:

Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing.

Minimum of 2 years clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner.

Prior experience working with veteran populations or in a similar PRN/locum capacity.

Other Requirements:

Own a suitable office within 50 miles of Houston, TX for those opting to see patients at their own facility.

Willingness to work on a PRN basis with flexible scheduling.

Ability to attend quick credentialing and onboarding sessions.

Be local to the Houston area or within the 50-mile radius for preferred assignments.

No travel reimbursements for certifications or portal training.
