About the Position
Locum Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine Houston, TX

Join our team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine and make a meaningful impact in veterans' healthcare. This flexible, high-demand role offers an exciting opportunity to provide essential assessment services across the country, supporting our nation's heroes. Work independently or within a healthcare facility, utilizing your expertise to conduct Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments with efficiency and professionalism.

Required Skills:

Active Nurse Practitioner license in Texas

Minimum of 2 years of experience in general medicine or related fields

Strong clinical assessment and interview skills

Ability to perform physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and adhere to strict guidelines

Nice to Have

Skills:

Experience with Compensation & Pension examinations

Background in family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery

Familiarity with veteran healthcare protocols

Prior experience in telehealth or remote assessment environments

Preferred

Education and Experience:

Master’s degree or higher in Nursing (MSN or DNP)

Previous healthcare experience in veteran or government healthcare programs

Proven track record of managing multiple assessments efficiently

Other Requirements:

Ability to work on a per diem basis, with flexible hours from 4-8 hours per shift

Willingness to perform interviews and physical assessments with veterans

Reliable transportation to own office or VES facility within 50 miles of Houston, TX

Must pass credentialing and onboarding processes swiftly

Commitment to maintaining compliance with all applicable state, federal, and local laws

Competitive hourly pay of $402.00, with rates structured at $600 for half-day (4 hours or less) and $1,200 for full-day (5+ hours) shifts. Opportunities include weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive benefits, and a robust referral bonus program. Additional reimbursements for licensure, certification, travel, and other eligible expenses are provided.
