About the Clinical Center for Targeted Therapy
MD Anderson's leading Phase I clinical trials program offers patients access to innovative, first‑in‑human cancer treatments. The team evaluates new immunotherapies, chemo therapies, and targeted therapies designed to block the molecular drivers of cancer growth and conducts selective Phase II trials to advance the most promising therapies.

Shift& Compensation
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (1 closing day)
Salary: $68,000 – $142,000, with $105,000 as the midpoint

The primary purpose of the Outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to manage patient outcomes by providing direct patient care, coordinating and supporting clinical and research aspects of care across the continuum, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Functions- Coordinates patients’ care with the interdisciplinary team and serves as a primary contact for patients, assisting in directing patients throughout their plan of care as directed by the physician.
- Maintains general working knowledge of departmental research protocols, briefly reviews eligibility checklists, and coordinates with the research nurse to enroll patients and monitor them while on research protocols.
- Responds to voicemail and electronic communication with patients, responding within 24 hours on non‑emergent calls.
- Acts on behalf of patients and families to ensure care that is safe and appropriate, considering values, multiplicity, and human rights.
- Participates in nursing and medical research and facilitates transfer of new knowledge to patient care.

Required
:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred
:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Required
:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in the ASC Post Anesthesia department.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the ASC Post Anesthesia or Pediatric & Adolescent Center department.
Preferred

Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) or certification in specialty practice.

One year of clinical nursing experience, with inpatient nursing and oncology experience considered a plus.
All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse work experience must participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
