Job SummaryThe Nurse Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing nursing operations and ensuring high-quality patient care at our Houston ambulatory surgery center. This position combines direct patient care with administrative oversight, staff management, and operational responsibilities. The Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating clinical services, mentoring nursing staff, and maintaining regulatory compliance while also participating in hands‑on nursing care pre‑, intra‑, and post‑operatively.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties- Conduct and oversee pre-operative assessments, medication administration, and IV insertion.
- Assist with operating room preparation and function as the circulating nurse.
- Monitor patients during procedures and in recovery; manage pain control and patient education.
- Ensure proper documentation and coordination with multidisciplinary team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Lead and supervise all nursing and clinical support staff within the ASC.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluating clinical personnel.
- Manage staff scheduling, time‑off coordination, and coverage to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Serve as a liaison between providers, administrators, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care and workflow.
- Monitor and improve quality control measures and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
- Maintain compliance with AAAHC, CMS, state, and federal guidelines.
- Manage supply inventory and coordinate with the administrative team on purchasing and budgeting needs.
- Participate in regular leadership meetings and provide insight into staffing, clinical operations, and process improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Active RN license in the state of Texas (or compact license).
- BLS and ACLS certification (required).
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
- Previous experience in a surgical setting, preferably in an ASC environment.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and clinical software.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain composure and make decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
- Requires standing, walking, lifting patients, and assisting with equipment.
- Must be able to work flexible hours based on surgical schedules and operational needs.
