Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - PACU

Overview

Seeking an experienced PACU Nurse to join our team at the West Houston area location. MD Anderson provides medical, radiation, and surgical oncology services with supportive programs at all Houston area locations. At MD Anderson West Houston
, patients in Katy, Memorial, Spring Branch and the surrounding Energy Corridor have convenient access to comprehensive cancer care.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of RN experience in PACU, ICU, or procedure settings. This schedule for this position is Monday–Friday, 9:30am–6:00pm.

  Participates in daily unit operations to achieve and maintain financial goals by utilizing all resources effectively and efficiently; provides quality and fiscally responsible patient care; proactively anticipates patient and family needs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse, Clinical Nurse Leader, and Nurse Manager; fosters peer relationships and participates in coaching and mentoring.
• New Knowledge, Innovation and Improvements
  :
  Applies new and existing evidence in patient care standards, incorporates new knowledge, innovations, and improvements in clinical practice and the patient care delivery system; complies with regulatory standards; demonstrates proficiency in technology use in patient care; participates in assessing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating safe and effective patient and family care using evidence-based measurements.
• Structural Empowerment
  :
  Participates in the evaluation of staff clinical performance, demonstrates effective communication and collaboration, contributes to an innovative environment, and strengthens practice to improve patient and family outcomes on the unit.

• Required:
  
  Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

• Preferred:
  Minimum one year of RN experience.
• Preferred:
  Prior PACU, ICU or Procedure experience.

• Required:
  
  RN – Registered Nurse, current Texas state licensure.
• Required:
  
  BLS – Basic Life Support (CPR) on hire.
• Required:
  
  ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (if working in ASC Post Anesthesia, 600761) on hire.
• Required:
  
  PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support (if working in ASC Post Anesthesia or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center, 113200) on hire.
• Preferred: OCN – Oncology Nurse Certification (on hire).

All clinical nurses with less than one year of RN work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
