Provides nursing care to individuals who present to the Harris County Hospital District for treatment, evidence collection and injury documentation. Completes and documents physical, social and safety assessments on each patient. Interacts in a professional manner with the patient, family and members of the multidisciplinary team. Participates in education and implements prevention strategies within the community. Testifies in courts of law as an expert witness.
Is available to respond to locations within the Harris County Hospital District to care for victims and/or perpetrators of trauma, assault or abuse.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Current State of Texas RN Licensure. Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner through either the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) or the Texas Office of the Attorney General within two years of employment.
- Work Experience:
Minimum of 8–10 years healthcare experience as a Registered Nurse with background in Emergency/ Trauma, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, Intensive Care and/or Forensic Nursing. - Management

Computer, calculator, fax, copier, camera.

No – Languages. - Writing/Composing (Correspondence/Reports) including entry of forensic data and case reports.

Able to communicate effectively with law enforcement officials, prosecutors, defense attorneys, social service agencies and medical examiner professionals. - Analytical, Mathematics, Medical Terms, P.C., Research, Word Processing.
- Work Schedule:
Weekends, Holidays, Flexible, Travel, On Call. - Other Requirements:
On‑call accountability for HCHD department. Current knowledge and experience in forensic nursing and/or participation in SANE/SAFE programs.
