The Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner reports directly to the Director of Obstetrics and the Chief Medical Officer. This provider is responsible for direct patient care including history review, health education, physical exam, counseling, diagnosis and treatment according to protocols, performing office procedures, and meeting productivity goals. The Midlevel Women’s Health Provider will be part of a team working with clinic staff to provide primary health care services effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications
  • License to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority in the State of Texas
  • Must have a Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s in Nursing
  • 3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish is preferred
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provides medical services, but only as delegated by the supervising Physician
  • Prescribe medications and make recommendations for other forms of treatment
  • Maintains medical expertise and competency; demonstrates knowledge of procedures to deliver quality primary medical care; provides medical sessions in direct patient care at the health center
  • Examine, diagnose, treat and/or refer patients for appropriate specialty care services
  • Review lab and x-ray reports for patients under care on a timely basis and make medical management decisions; follow standards of care
  • Maintain a problem-oriented health record for each patient in accordance with the health center’s information management policies
  • Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies and medical protocols
  • Provide education and support to patients; address patient questions and problems
  • Collaborate with Supervising Physician, Chief Medical Director, other Providers, Clinical Quality Manager, Site Supervisor, Medical Assistants and Front Desk Staff to assess client needs
  • Participate in the review and development of patient care policies; serve as a resources and proactive leader for the department
  • Educate patients and families about diagnosis and plan of care; facilitate communication as needed
  • Participate in evaluating products, procedures, and patient care standards
  • Participate in conferences, workshops in health promotion and education; attend clinic and department meetings as required
  • Stay current with health care trends that impact medical practice
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • All Health Center staff have emergency and disaster response responsibilities and participate in safety programs
