Registered Nurse PAT

Townsen Memorial Surgery Center - River Oaks is looking for a Registered Nurse, PAT to join our team! The Registered Nurse, PAT is responsible for coordinating the pre‑admission testing (PAT) and interview/assessment process for patients scheduled to undergo an invasive or surgical procedure. Communicates with providers and/or their respective office staff as indicated regarding patient testing results to optimize the patient’s condition prior to surgery.

• Ensures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order
• Explains nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety
• Assesses patient’s physical and mental status
• Documents patient care delivered, accurately in the medical record
• Implements doctor’s orders in a timely and accurate manner
• Coordinates patient care; provides explanations and teaching to patient/family
• Plans for routine events and anticipates/prevents and manages/evaluates emergent situations
• Adapts to unexpected changes
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
• Participates in performance improvement activities
• Completes and assesses EKGs
• Draws patient labs as ordered by physician

• Exceptional organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize work activity based on need, attention to detail, initiative, and follow‑through skills
• Advanced level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision‑making ability and attention to detail yielding effective conveyance of information

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Current and unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas
• Three (3) years of perioperative nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (90) days of hire
