Seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Sarcoma Medical Oncology team. The Sarcoma Medical Oncology department (SMO) includes faculty and staff involved in patient care and in clinical, translational and basic research. Aiming to improve survival and quality of life, our team of highly specialized medical oncologists, physician-scientists, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants and research nurses treat patients with localized and/or metastatic sarcoma.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider. Inpatient experience is strongly preferred. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 8 am‑5 pm and will require being on‑site 3–4 days a week.

- Conducts inpatient rounds with attending physicians and communicates pertinent clinical information based on physical examination and review of patient data.
- Completes admission histories and physicals, consultation notes, daily progress notes and discharge summaries in compliance with institutional and departmental guidelines.
- Coordinates discharge planning. Orders patient medications, treatments and tests within authorized delegated prescriptive authority and consistent with institutional policies and procedures.
- Performs advanced patient care therapeutic procedures, such as removing arterial catheters.
- Evaluates patients and communicates pertinent clinical information based on history, physical examination and review of patient data to attending physicians.
- Dictates PME, H&P, consultation, clinic and telephone notes into the medical record according to institutional and departmental guidelines.
- Facilitates appointments and testing for new patients and consultation patients to the department.
- Coordinates urgent hospital admissions or emergency room referrals.
- Assists with the management of unscheduled clinic patients.
- Facilitates scheduling special procedures and tests with the appropriate department such as CVC insertions, echocardiograms, image‑guided biopsies and aspirations, fine‑needle aspirations, arterial infusions and embolizations.
- Monitors and follows up on results of tests including lab results, diagnostic imaging, other studies and pathology reports.
- Orders patient medications, treatments and tests within authorized delegated prescriptive authority and consistent with institutional policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with the research team on the design of clinical protocols, creating or reviewing order sets, and/or management of protocol related events.
- Assesses patients for protocol eligibility and notifies the research team of potential protocol candidates.
- Assesses patients for symptoms, side effects and toxicities pertaining to standard treatments and investigational studies.
- Completes paperwork which may include letters, FMLA, disability and insurance forms for patients by manually writing or typing necessary information or by dictated letter.
- Completes peer‑to‑peer reviews and provides information to facilitate insurance authorization for testing and treatment.
- Responsible for billing utilizing the Electronic Billing System to complete charges within 24 hours of providing care to patients.
