Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Treatment Nurse (RN/LVN) position is to participate in and oversee the wound care of residents as prescribed by the attending physician, consistent with accepted standards of care and within the scope of RN/LVN training and licensure. This role may provide direct care to residents and supervise a Certified Nursing Assistant to ensure highest practical well‑being.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school and current valid license in the applicable state
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a long‑term or health‑care setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of current wound‑care treatments and dressings
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
Essential Functions
  • Observe, assess, treat and document residents’ wounds according to the Resident Care Management System, state and local regulations
  • Ensure preventative measures are utilized to prevent the development of pressure ulcers
  • Assist in collecting and documenting data for quality assurance, including weekly pressure/non‑pressure trending reports
  • Consult with the Director of Nurses/Attending Physician regarding changes in residents’ wounds or condition
  • Receive, transcribe and execute physicians’ orders
  • Ensure implementation of care plans to promote wound healing
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Identify and secure equipment and supplies for wound care
  • Notify the attending physician and family or responsible party promptly of any significant change in the resident’s wound/condition, and document this notification in the medical record
  • Participate in assigning duties and ensuring delivery of appropriate clinical care by the CNA staff
  • Document and report each resident’s accident or incident in accordance with clinical policies and federal regulations
  • Function as a team leader/role model
  • Ensure a safe environment for the resident population
  • Participate in the nurse manager On‑call rotation
  • Review clinical policies and procedures for abuse prevention and enforce them
  • Assure patient/resident safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
