Perioperative Nurse Coordinator

Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is seeking a dedicated Perioperative Nurse Coordinator to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality nursing care throughout the surgical care continuum, ensuring safe and efficient perioperative services for patients, surgeons, and anesthesia providers. As a key clinical leader, you will oversee patient flow before, during, and after operative procedures, including pre-admission testing coordination, preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative recovery planning.

You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, operating room staff, PACU nurses, and ancillary departments to support optimal patient outcomes, adherence to evidence-based practice, and a positive patient and family experience.

Working within a supportive and compassionate environment, you will serve as a clinical resource for perioperative nursing standards, assist with case scheduling optimization, and help ensure that all necessary equipment, implants, and supplies are available and properly prepared. You will participate in patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, verify consents, complete pre- and postoperative education, and reinforce discharge instructions. The Perioperative Nurse Coordinator monitors patient safety, infection-prevention practices, and compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.

This position also plays an important role in quality improvement by tracking key perioperative metrics, assisting with root‑cause analyses, and driving process improvements that support quality patient outcomes. You will participate in staff education and competency validation, orient new team members, and promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning. The role may include limited direct patient care, circulating or recovery responsibilities during complex cases, and acting as a liaison between patients, families, surgeons, and the broader care team.
