Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) Responsibilities
- Determine donor eligibility including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion; conduct medical history interview and acceptability requirements; perform physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility as outlined in SOPs; follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician standing orders and transport of donors to emergency care facilities.
- Refer donor findings or medical/technical issues to Center Physician or Medical Affairs as appropriate, ensuring effective donor safety and eligibility decisions.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency response; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized nursing education program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment:
Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA). - Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Open availability required between 2 PM and 10 PM.

Compensation & BenefitsHourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44. Actual wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Eligible for short‑term incentives and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan and company match, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well‑being benefits. U.S. employees may receive up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year, and new hires may accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
