Job Description
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a variety of delegated nursing tasks and participates in patient care within their scope of practice, guided by registered nurses, licensed physicians, or other specified health care professionals. Within the Oncology unit, the Oncology LPN specializes in providing high quality care to patients with cancer, assisting with palliative care and chemotherapy administration.
Shift DetailsRotating Days and Nights / 12‑Hour Shift
Unit Specific Information32 bed unit with 1 radiation room
Responsibilities- Assist with admission and check‑in process, including orienting patients and completing necessary forms.
- Prepare and administer medications within scope of practice, assist with patient activities of daily living, and prepare them for medical or surgical interventions.
- Obtain and track specimens for laboratory analysis, document patient care, interventions, and update care plans accurately and timely.
- Communicate with supervisory RN, physicians, or licensed independent practitioners regarding patient care and changes in condition, and participate in patient education about health status, maintenance, and management of conditions.
- Follow legal and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, accurate documentation, and participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives, acting as a mentor or trainer to other staff if required.

Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interpersonal communication. Manual dexterity, frequent computer use, typing for documentation. Expected to lift and transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, obtain and distribute supplies and equipment, push/pull gurneys and portable equipment.
Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms. May be expected to stand for extended periods.
36 scheduled weekly hours. Hourly rate $26.47 – $40.87, dependent on experience.

Qualifications- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in state of practice.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS‑HCP) certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if applicable to unit.
- May need IV certification as required by facility.
- Colorado sites:
Current IV certification or obtain IV certification within three (3) months of hire. - Montana sites:
Completion of in‑house education and competency sign‑off within three (3) months of hire. - LPNs hired into hospital departments that do not include a long‑term care or behavioral health setting must be enrolled and complete their RN within four years.
- Preferred:
One year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting. - Preferred:
One year specialty clinic experience.
