West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over four decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and includes a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency.

We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient.

West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The LVN will provide direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse for adults, adolescents, children and geriatric patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions or act as House Supervisor. The LVN will be responsible for using the nursing process to effectively manage the plan of care for each patient based on appropriate standards, policies and procedures.

Management of each patient also includes appropriately and effectively delegating patient care duties to other members of the nursing team in order to assure optimal patient outcomes. The Licensed Vocational Nurse is also responsible for continuing his/her own professional development to enhance practice and the profession of nursing and actively participates as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team of the unit and performs duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Education Required:

    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure and certification

    Required:

    Current Texas State Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure. CPR and hospital de‑escalation certifications.
  • Experience

    Required:

    Two years of inpatient psychiatric nursing and/or medical/surgical experience.
