Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The role works under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician, follows industry regulations, and provides center‑level environmental, health and safety support.

Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions and execute emergency procedures per standard operating procedures, including developing physician standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care.
  • Refer unacceptable findings to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues.
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for occupational health evaluation.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, investigating pandemic threats in the local community.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or graduate equivalent of an approved nursing program; meets state licensing requirements.
  • Licensed or certified in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Basic IV therapy skills that meet state requirements.
  • Completed the FDA‑approved training for a Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Compensation and Benefits

U.S. hourly wage range: $24.32–$33.44, subject to qualifications, experience, and location. Eligible U.S. employees may receive short‑term incentives and benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance; a 401(k) plan with company match; short‑ and long‑term disability coverage; basic life insurance; tuition reimbursement; paid volunteer time; company holidays; and well‑being programs. New hires may accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation and up to 80 hours of sick time.

Location

Houston, Texas (Buffalo, TX). Full‑time employee, non‑exempt.
