Overview
The Oncology Registered Nurse evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care for the oncology patient population. The RN works in hospitals and outpatient care centers where patients receive cancer treatments. In hospital settings, the RN assists with surgery prep, patient education, and coordination of their cancer treatments. In outpatient care center settings, the RN typically helps with treatments such as chemotherapy and infusions while monitoring patients’ vitals, side effects, and pain.
Minimum Requirements- Current RN license in the state of practice
- One (1) year of experience in oncology nursing preferred
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
