ATC Nurse – Systemic Cancer Therapies
The ATC nurse is responsible for administering and monitoring a variety of systemic cancer therapies and other injectable infusions to adults in the Ambulatory Treatment Center.
Location: TMC (Texas Medical Center) Region – ATC Main, ATC Mays, ATC Life Science Plaza.
Shift/
Schedule:
12:30 pm – 11:00 pm, rotating weekends and holidays.
Salary: $68,000 – $142,500 (midpoint $105,200). Hourly breakdown: minimum $32.69, midpoint $50.58, maximum $68.51.

Primary purpose: positively affect patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting evidence‑based direct patient care across the continuum of care in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
Key Functions- Administer infusions including standard and research chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, blood products, IVIG, growth factors, antibiotics, electrolytes, and hydration.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; assess and educate patients and family/caregivers.
- Develop collaborative professional relationships with physicians and all members of the health‑care team.
- Manage IV insertion, venous access device, accurate administration and monitoring of infusions via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes.
- Perform independent double‑check for chemotherapy administration.
- Handle and dispose of chemotherapy safely to minimize hazardous drug exposure.
- Connect and disconnect continuous infusion pumps.
- Manage treatment‑related side effects and adverse reactions.
- Minimize infection risk for patients who are or may be immunocompromised.
- Identify early detection of specific side effects to facilitate effective self‑management.
Required:
Graduation from an accredited professional nursing school (RN).
Required:
None.
Preferred:
Two years of nursing experience, preferably chemotherapy infusion therapy.
- Required:
Current Texas RN license. - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- For post‑anesthesia care unit:
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). - Preferred:
Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification, OCN or Chemo/Biotherapy certification.
All clinical nurses with less than one year of RN work experience must participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
