Overview
UT MD Anderson's Laura Lee Blanton Gynecologic Oncology Center has pioneered new treatments for gynecologic cancers. Research proved that cervical cancer can be treated more effectively with chemotherapy and radiation instead of radiation alone, changing the standard of care for cervical cancer. The MD Anderson Algorithm selects the best candidates for ovarian cancer surgery, greatly increasing complete tumor removal rates.
Position SummaryThe primary purpose of the Gynecological outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse is accountable for providing quality, evidence-based patient care through collaboration with the inter‑professional team.
Essential Job FunctionsAccountable for the management and provision of patient care in the assigned area; assess patient needs, collaborate with physicians and other services, plan care, evaluate outcomes, provide continuity of care through discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services. Demonstrate clinical competency by using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies. Organize and prioritize work of the patient care team, train, coach, and assist team members.
Shift4–10 hour shifts: 7 am‑5:30 pm or 7:30 am‑6 pm; occasional weekend coverage may be required based on business needs.
SalaryMinimum $68,000; midpoint $105,200; maximum $142,500.

QualificationsEducation – Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing; preferred Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
License/Certification – Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN); BLS or CPR certification. Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) required for specific departments. Preferred OCN – Oncology Nurse Certification or other specialty practice certification.
Experience – None required; preferred two years of clinical nursing experience in an inpatient or ambulatory/outpatient setting. Gynecologic oncology experience is a plus.
Other Requirements – Nurses with less than one year of registered nurse experience must participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
