Overview
The Clinical Nurse on G10
East Gynecologic/Radiation Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. The unit is a 25 bed inpatient facility serving pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with gynecological malignancies using chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and medical management.
The Clinical Nurse works shift patterns of 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am, with rotating weekends and holidays. Shift includes 12-hour shifts per week, 1872 hours per year minimum.
Hourly salary range:
Minimum $32.70 – Midpoint $50.48 – Maximum $68.27.

Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assesses patient needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient’s family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
- Education Required:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. - Education Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing. - Experience
Required:
All clinical nurses with less than one-year registered nurse (RN) work experience will participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program; this position is not eligible for the residency program. - Experience Preferred:
Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting, preferably two. - Licenses/Certification
Required:
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). - Licenses/Certification Preferred:
Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty;
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, or PALS certification as required.
This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
