* Responsibilities
* * Patient Care & Treatment
* - Provide quality patient care tailored to the patient's diagnosis, treatment, age, developmental status, and identified needs

- Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations and psychosocial assessments

- Review and interpret physical examination findings, laboratory results, and radiographic test results

- Formulate plans for further diagnosis and therapeutic management in collaboration with the attending physician

- Document all pertinent information in the patient's medical record according to institutional policy

- Perform admission and discharge responsibilities

- Manage symptoms, toxicities, and complications related to disease and treatment in collaboration with the attending physician

- Order consultations, diagnostic tests, and procedures as indicated

* Communication, Procedures & Privileging
* - Communicate verbally and in writing with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and external care providers

- Facilitate communication among patients, families, primary care teams, and multidisciplinary care teams

- Provide education to patients and their families regarding treatment and care plans

- Perform bone marrow aspiration and biopsy procedures

- Perform lumbar punctures and Ommaya taps with or without administration of intrathecal chemotherapy

- Maintain procedural privileging once obtained

* Research
* - Participate in the conduct of clinical research

- Assist with patient eligibility assessments for research protocols

- Monitor patients for side effects and toxicities associated with investigational treatments

- Document research-related findings according to protocol requirements

* EDUCATION:

* Required:

* Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
* Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003.

Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

* Physician Assistant
* Required:

Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.

* EXPERIENCE:

* Preferred:
At least 1 year of Oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
