The Sarcoma and Orthopaedic Center specializes in treating rare and complex cancers and tumors of the bones and soft tissues, including muscle, joints, and blood vessels. Our team manages both benign and malignant musculoskeletal tumors, metastatic cancers, and pediatric cases.

In addition to sarcoma care, we address orthopaedic conditions common in cancer patients, such as arthritis, fractures, osteoporosis, and avascular necrosis. Patients benefit from a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, rheumatologists, pain specialists, and other experts dedicated to comprehensive, compassionate care.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed RN with at least one year of oncology nursing experience. Certification in Oncology Nursing is preferred.

Shift: Monday-Friday typically 8am- 5pm no weekends or holidays

Salary: $68,000 - minimum - $105,200 midpoint - $142,500 maximum

Summary

The primary purpose of the Outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse is accountable and responsible for providing quality, evidence-based patient care through the appropriate use of resources in collaboration with the inter-professional team. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Organizes and prioritizes work of patient care team;

trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Transformational Leadership

Leads patients, families, and colleagues to anticipate and meet future care needs.

  • Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy agents
  • IV fluid and antibiotic therapy
  • Pump connects/disconnects
  • Rapid response to infusion reactions and emergencies
  • IV insertions and vascular access management
  • Ensures continuity of care through patient education and coordination of services.
  • Practices autonomously within the scope of professional nursing standards.
Structural Empowerment
  • Actively participates in shared decision-making at the unit level.
  • Identifies barriers to care and contributes to effective solutions.
  • Builds strong partnerships across departments to support patient outcomes.
Exemplary Professional Practice

Trains, mentors, and supports team members to ensure optimal care and resource utilization.

Manages and delivers patient care in assigned areas.

Functions effectively in roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, clinical coach, and protocol manager.

Demonstrates clinical competency in procedures, medication administration, and emergency response.

Assesses patient needs and collaborates with physicians and care teams to develop and evaluate care plans.

Advocates for patients and upholds their rights throughout the care process.

Provides coverage for Surgical Oncology and Infusion patients as needed.

Participates in or leads practice improvement and care redesign initiatives.

EDUCATION

Required:

Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree Nursing.

Work Experience

Required:

None

Preferred:
One year of oncology nursing experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761).

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).

Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification, Certification in specialty practice.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
