Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Key Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality nursing care to Veterans in accordance with VA standards and Joint

* Commission requirements.

* Conduct and document patient assessments accurately and promptly.

* Administer medications, monitor responses, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

* Participate in patient care planning and discharge coordination.

* Adhere to all patient safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
* (HIPAA/Privacy Act).

* Maintain accurate electronic medical records (CPRS/VistA systems).

* Respond effectively to emergencies and manage critical care interventions.

* Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and accountability at all times.

Qualifications

Required:

* Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. State or Territory

* Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)

* Minimum 2 years of emergency room experience within the last 5 years

* BLS and ACLS certifications (must be current)

* Ability to pass background investigation and credentialing through Vet Pro

* TB test (within the last 12 months) and negative drug screening

Preferred:

* Experience in VA or federal healthcare settings

* Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (VistA/CPRS)

* Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Training Requirements

* Completion of New Employee Orientation (NEO) at MEDVAMC before starting

* Completion of all VHA-mandated online trainings, including Privacy, HIPAA, and Information Security

* Ongoing competency assessments and skills validations as required by VA
