Charge Nurse Pre Op Pacu

Townsen Memorial Surgery Center - River Oaks is currently seeking a full time Charge Nurse Pre Op PACU. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the coordination and supervision of nursing and patient care assistants. This includes work schedules, daily coordination of staffing assignments, and daily patient care activities to assure an efficient and safe delivery of care. The Charge Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for the patient during the pre-operative course as well as plan, implement, and evaluate the care of the patient.

Essential functions include making decisions regarding direct patient care needs, supervising the day-to-day Pre-Op/PACU, assisting the ASC Manager in providing directions to staff, ensuring staff compliance with surgery center policies, providing leadership and support in developing effective relationships with staff, holding individual employees accountable for responsibilities, mentoring and training new staff, preparing for the arrival of patients, reviewing patient charts and health history, admitting and preparing patients for surgery, performing nursing assessments, communicating with other health care team members, receiving patients in the recovery room, assessing and evaluating patients, providing discharge instructions, documenting charges for supplies used, performing follow up patient assessments, remaining prepared for emergency situations, wiping down gurneys and recliners, performing narcotic counts, performing daily crash cart checks, providing patient education, ensuring proper supplies and equipment are available, ensuring equipment is functioning properly, and assisting with inventory control.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include working independently, demonstrating sound judgment and reliability, initiative and ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflict, thriving and succeeding in a team environment, exceptional organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize work activity based on need, attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through skills, advanced level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability, and attention to detail yielding effective conveyance of information.

Education and experience include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, current and unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas, three years of perioperative nursing experience, one year of nursing leadership experience, Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified.
