About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Pediatric Urgent Care team
. This role focuses on providing high-quality, same-day care to pediatric patients with acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Providers will evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of pediatric conditions, perform appropriate urgent care procedures, and determine when patients require additional evaluation, referral, or escalation of care.
This position follows a regional coverage model, and Providers may work across multiple Care for Kids locations within their assigned region based on patient volume and staffing needs.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), this role could include:- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute pediatric illnesses and injuries.
- Perform comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments in a fast-paced urgent care environment.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing, including laboratory studies, point-of-care testing, and imaging.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for acute and episodic conditions.
- Perform urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, initial fracture management, splinting, and reduction of nursemaid's elbow.
- Recognize higher-acuity conditions and determine when referral or escalation of care is appropriate.
- Provide patients and families with clear education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment, and follow-up care.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical leadership, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain compliance with applicable clinical, HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA requirements.
- Travel between clinic locations within the assigned region as needed to support patient care and staffing needs.
Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioners
- Current, valid, and unencumbered Texas RN/APRN licensure.
- Active national certification as a PNP or FNP from a certifying body recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Current, valid Texas Physician Assistant license.
- Active NCCPA certification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- Pediatric clinical experience strongly preferred.
- Pediatric urgent care, emergency medicine, or other fast-paced clinical experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- PALS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pediatric urgent care environment.
- Excellent patient, family, and team communication skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA-waived testing requirements.
Preferred: Bilingual English/Spanish

Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, employment classification, and other relevant factors.
