Position: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
The PMHNP plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of client treatment. Responsible for assessing client needs, managing comprehensive treatment plans, and coordinating services, the PMHNP is integral to driving positive outcomes for our clients. This position requires close collaboration with clients, our providers, our admin staff, and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible support and resources are provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
    Conduct comprehensive assessments, including mental status examinations, to evaluate patients' mental health needs, symptoms, and risk factors. Formulate nursing diagnoses and collaborate with staff psychiatrist and therapists to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Medication Administration and Management:
    Administer medications as prescribed, monitor responses, and assess for potential side effects or adverse reactions. Educate patients on medication usage, side effects, and adherence to treatment regimens.
  • Collaborative Treatment:
    Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning sessions to optimize patient outcomes and continuity of treatment.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and outcomes in our EMR system. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, confidentiality guidelines, and company policies and procedures.
  • Crisis Management:
    Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies. Implement de-escalation techniques, initiate crisis interventions, and coordinate referrals to appropriate emergency services or treatment facilities as needed.

Day-to-Day Expectations:

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and evaluations for patients with mental health disorders.
  • Diagnose mental health conditions based on clinical findings, diagnostic tools, and patient history.
  • Work with a behavioral health team to develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention, and provide education and support to patients regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Stay current with developments in psychiatric care and treatment techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with healthcare regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a focus on psychiatric/mental health nursing. Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Licensing:
    Active state nursing license and certification to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
  • Licensing:
    Must have DEA number to write and sign prescriptions.
  • Certification:
    Current CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association.
  • Experience:

    At least 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing and providing mental health services, including experience prescribing medications.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $50.00–$65.00 per hour
