New Wave Physicians Group has served the North Houston community for nearly 20 years, providing affordable primary care for patients of all ages. Our team of internal medicine and family medicine physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants offers acute care, chronic disease management, preventive care, geriatrics, well-woman and men's health, and in-house services such as lab, ultrasound and diabetic foot care.

We also run a Direct Primary Care program so uninsured patients can get the care they need.

About the Role
We're looking for a compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our primary care team. You'll assess, diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions for about 15–25 patients per day. The role centers on preventive care, treatment planning and medication management. Bilingual Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred so we can better serve the Spanish-speaking families in our community.

What You'll Do

• Conduct patient assessments and physical examinations
• Diagnose illnesses and develop individualized treatment plans
• Manage medications, including adjustments for patients with multiple prescriptions
• Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and thyroid disease
• Provide preventive care, annual wellness exams and health education
• Counsel patients on lifestyle and health decisions, in English and Spanish when possible
• Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff and specialists
• Keep accurate, timely documentation in the EHR

Qualifications

• Active Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant
• National board certification (AANP/ANCC for NPs, NCCPA for PAs)
• Master's degree from an accredited NP or PA program
• At least 1 year of primary care experience preferred
• Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and pharmacology knowledge
• Experience with chronic disease management and geriatric patients is a plus
• Proficiency with EHR systems
• Excellent communication and counseling skills, with empathy and sound judgment
