- Assess each patient and develop an appropriate treatment plan with measurable goals and time frames
- Prepare and submit clinical and progress summaries based on identified and attained goals
- Ensure that other treating medical professionals have the necessary information to appropriately evaluate the patient
- Bachelor's or Associates degree in Nursing
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing

Memorial Hermann Medical-Surgical nurses provide direct care to adult patients with a broad range of acute and chronic medical and surgical conditions. Patient populations may include individuals with cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, neurological, endocrine, infectious, and other medical conditions
, as well as patients recovering from surgical procedures.
The Medical-Surgical RN is responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, administering medications and treatments, monitoring for changes in condition, managing pain and symptoms, and providing patient and family education.
Nurses care for patients with varying levels of acuity and complexity and are responsible for recognizing changes in patient status, communicating clinical findings, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate treatment and support safe patient outcomes.
Medical-Surgical nurses also participate in post-operative care, wound management, mobility and fall prevention, infection prevention, discharge planning, and transitions of care
. The role requires strong clinical judgment, prioritization, communication, and the ability to manage multiple patient needs in a fast-paced acute-care environment.
