Description
Veterinary Technician for Thrive Pet Healthcare in the Houston, TX area. We are hiring an experienced, Locum Veterinary Technician who is flexible and willing to work across multiple locations as needed.

As a Veterinary Technician you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing care for our patients. Your work will range from hands-on care for outpatient treatments and laboratory tests to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 2 years of continuous veterinary technician (direct animal/patient care required)
  • RVT/LVT/CVT encouraged to apply
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections
  • Proficient in monitoring anesthesia and using various monitoring equipment
  • Desire to practice empathetic, gold-standard medicine benefiting our patients
  • Team oriented with ability to collaborate and support each other
  • Positive, kind and trustworthy communication with patients, team members, and clients
  • Desire to constantly grow and advance as a veterinary technician
Role Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients
  • Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed technicians
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments
  • Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with practice systems
  • Obtain health history from clients and maintain medical charts
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members
