Crew Leader - Landscape Construction Division

Job Summary

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities pertaining to the landscape, renovation, and maintenance of an assigned contract in accordance with company policies, contract documents and governmental regulations.

• Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor in landscape, irrigation, or enhancement projects.
• Perform manual and machinery work in preparing surfaces for paving (Landscape Maintenance).
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
• Perform materials handling and storage.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Cut turf using various sized power mowers, trimming, edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower.
• Lay sod, plant, mow, trim, dig, rake, prune, mulch, install sprinklers, and load and unload materials.
• Plant flower beds.
• Pick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris onto the turf before mowing.
• Mulch leaves and organic matter when mowing.
• Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoe.
• Maintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with customers.
• Bring problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.

• Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds as required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive as needed.

• At least 2 years of experience in landscaping, outdoor maintenance, or related field preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction or landscape job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue;

and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.

• At least 2 years of experience in landscaping, outdoor maintenance, or related field preferred.
• Bilingual is a plus.
• Valid Texas Driver's license is a plus.
