Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Criticalist to join our established, collaborative Critical Care team. You’ll have the opportunity to manage complex and challenging cases alongside experienced emergency doctors, hospitalists, ICU nurses, and specialists across a wide range of disciplines.
At GCVS, you’ll do more than practice—you’ll grow, collaborate, and help shape what’s possible in veterinary medicine. You’ll work in an environment where advanced medicine, mentorship, and teamwork come together to deliver an exceptional experience for both patients and clinicians. Our 60,000-square-foot hospital features a dedicated 24/7 Intensive Care Unit and Intermediate Care Unit, comprehensive in-house diagnostics, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, digital radiography, ultrasound, a fully equipped Interventional Radiology Suite, and a Varian Halcyon radiation therapy system.
Our Critical Care team works closely with Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Dermatology, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation, Avian & Exotics, and other specialty services.
GCVS also offers a robust internship and residency program, creating opportunities to teach, mentor, and contribute to the development of future specialists.

- Provide advanced critical care for a diverse and challenging caseload in a dedicated 24/7 ICU and Intermediate Care Unit.
- Work alongside experienced emergency doctors, hospitalists, ICU nurses, and specialty teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize advanced diagnostics and therapies, supported by in-house laboratory capabilities, CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, digital radiography, and Interventional Radiology.
- Collaborate closely with Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Imaging, and other specialty services.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for critically ill patients and communicate recommendations clearly with referring veterinarians and pet owners.
- Participate in teaching and mentorship through GCVS’s internship and residency programs.
- Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
- DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
- Board Certification in Critical Care or Residency Trained in Critical Care.
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
