Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) is seeking a residency-trained or board-certified Veterinary Surgeon to join our busy, well-established Surgery Department in Houston, Texas. You’ll become part of a large, highly skilled team within a multidisciplinary specialty hospital, with strong referral relationships and the advanced resources to support complex surgical cases.

Our 60,000-square-foot hospital provides access to advanced diagnostic imaging, including 128-slice CT, 3T MRI, C-arm, and ultrasound, along with advanced surgical capabilities and dedicated support from anesthesia, critical care, diagnostic imaging, and other specialty services.

In your day-to-day, you will:
· Provide advanced surgical care for a diverse, high-volume caseload.
· Perform soft tissue and/or orthopedic procedures based on clinical interests and experience.
· Utilize advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical technology to support complex cases.
· Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, Neurology, Critical Care, Diagnostic Imaging, Anesthesia, Oncology, and other specialty services.
· Work alongside experienced anesthesia and surgical support teams to provide comprehensive perioperative care.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with referring veterinarians through consultation, communication, and continuing education.
· Mentor veterinary interns, specialty interns, residents, and support team members as part of GCVS’s strong culture of education.
· Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
· Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
· Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
What You Bring
· DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
· Board Certification in Surgery or Residency Trained in Surgery.
· Strong surgical skills and clinical judgment with a commitment to exceptional patient care.
· Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
· A collaborative mindset and commitment to teamwork and mentorship.
· A passion for continuous learning and advancing specialty medicine.
