Job Description

DPR Construction is seeking a skilled EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) Specialist with in-depth plant-level experience in the prefabrication manufacturing industries. This role will support operations in person at the Houston Prefabrication Assembly Facility located in Tomball, TX. Responsibilities include implementing and maintaining the safety program and promoting a culture of safety in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.

Some office work is required for documentation and training preparation, and occasional travel may be necessary for training or other business-related purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safety Program Management
    :
Assist in implementing and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to general industry manufacturing operations (e.g., onboarding, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, hazard communication).
  • Compliance
    :
Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and applicable regulatory standards (e.g., NPFA), as well as company-specific safety protocols, by conducting regular inspections of the facility.
  • Risk Assessment
    :
Identify workplace hazards through inspections, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and employee feedback; and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Training
    :
Deliver safety training sessions for employees, including topics such as personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency response, and safe equipment operation.
  • Incident Investigation
    :
Participate in investigations of workplace incidents, compile comprehensive incident reports that emphasize root‑cause analyses, recommend preventive actions, and transport team members for non‑emergency medical care.
  • Data Analysis
    :
Track site‑specific safety metrics (e.g., incident rates, training completion) and prepare reports for management to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Emergency Preparedness
    :
Aid in maintaining emergency response plans, conducting drills, and ensuring availability of safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, first aid kits).
  • Problem Solving
    :
Support resolution of complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practice.
  • Collaboration
    :
Work closely with production supervisors, maintenance teams, and employees to integrate safety practices into daily operations and serve other organizational peer groups.
  • Perform regular facility walkthroughs involving prolonged standing, walking, and site movement; occasionally climb ladders, scaffolding, or stairs to access elevated areas; inspect confined spaces and hard‑to‑reach areas as needed; remain stationary for extended periods during meetings, training, or documentation.
  • Identify and respond to safety hazards using visual, auditory, and verbal cues; lift and carry safety equipment or signage (up to 40lb.); wear all required PPE in the work environment (e.g., helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, protective footwear); respond effectively to emergencies, including evacuations and incident support.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication, leadership, and training skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels and facilitate large group sessions.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Safety‑conscious and compliance‑driven mindset.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
  • Spanish bilingual proficiency is strongly preferred.
Education and Experience

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety (or equivalent experience). 2–4 years of experience in a safety role in the manufacturing industry or a similar industrial setting. Knowledge of OSHA general industry regulations and industry standards required.
