Lab Assistant - Cytology - Per Diem PRN Flexible Schedule

Per Diem/PRN Lab Assistant – Cytology Processing Department, Houston, TX. Hours are flexible, Monday‑Friday 3pm‑11:30pm based on business needs.

• Receive and sort specimens for the cytology department
• Process specimens for non‑gynecological testing and Thin Prep gynecological testing
• Scan and/or data‑entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment functions properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot specimen‑related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Current or prior Labcorp experience (preferred)
• At least 1 year of experience in the healthcare industry (e.g., physician's office, clinic, hospital)
• At least 1 year of experience in a lab setting
• At least 1 year of experience in a cytology lab
• At least 6 months of experience with Hologic Thin Prep
  2000, T5000, Genius Imagers, or Tomcats

• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer and data‑entry skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Capacity to work in a fast‑paced production environment and meet established turn‑around times
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to pass a standardized color‑blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
