In this role, you will represent Bechtel as the supplier's project quality point of contact. You will perform quality surveillance and hands‑on inspections to verify that supplier equipment, material, documentation, and personnel activities conform to the requirements of procurement documents. You will work with supplier representatives to ensure requirements are understood and implemented. #LI-SM2
Major Responsibilities- Represent Bechtel as the supplier's prime contact with respect to supplier quality and perform quality surveillance activities defined by the assignment scope to verify that supplier-furnished equipment and material conforms to the technical and quality requirements of the procurement documents.
- Review procurement document requirements with supplier representatives to ensure they are understood and implemented.
- Monitor supplier personnel activities including witnessing of operations, inspections, examinations, or tests to verify procurement document requirements have been met.
- Perform hands‑on inspections to verify by re‑examination the efficacy of supplier inspection efforts and to provide assurance of the conformance of equipment or materials to procurement document requirements.
- Review supplier-generated quality verification documentation to verify conformance to procurement document requirements.
- Reject material found nonconforming and collaborate with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel to obtain a course of supplier action which facilitates satisfactory disposition of disclosed non‑conformances.
- Release conforming material for shipment and notify other Bechtel functional organizations to assist in coordination of their activities.
- Evaluate supplier's conformance to specified quality criteria on a specific assignment or group of assignments to provide input to recommendations for placement of future orders.
- Conduct surveys or audits of suppliers when assigned.
- Participate as an audit team member or technical resource for nuclear material and/or quality program audits.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
- Review material requisitions including technical specifications with respect to quality requirements and participate with Engineering in determining the levels of surveillance required and establishing witness and hold points.
- Assist in the development of the final bid list and the selection of a recommended bidder.
- Assist with the establishment of Quality Surveillance levels required for each purchase.
- Participate in pre‑award and post‑award meetings/conferences with suppliers to review Area Supplier Quality's right of access, release for shipment authority, and notification on witness and hold points during quality surveillance activities.
- Prepare quality surveillance and capability survey assignments for execution by the assigned Area Supplier Quality Specialists.
- Investigate quality issues reported to the Supplier Quality Manager on equipment/materials where quality surveillance has been performed.
- Utilize available documents such as UOS&Ds, Field Change Notices, back charge notices, NCR & Deviation Report registers, etc. during the investigation process.
- Review, edit, accept and distribute reports in accordance with this Manual and Project Procedures.
- Ensure survey and audit reports are approved and then posted into GSIS.
- Regularly check anomaly code information and assignment information which has been siphoned from Quality Surveillance Reports into SQEAS to confirm accuracy and make necessary corrections.
- Provide project direction to Supplier Quality Representatives that carry assignments for the Project.
