Located in the Houston Office or Chandler, AZ Office, this role provides project supplier quality specialist support on a project including capability surveys, audits, and area or shop quality surveillance in accordance with Bechtel Supplier Quality & Expediting Inc. (BSQE) and project procedures.
Job Responsibilities- Represent Bechtel as the supplier’s prime contact for supplier quality and perform quality surveillance activities defined by the assignment scope to verify that supplied equipment and material conforms to the technical and quality requirements of the procurement documents.
- Review procurement document requirements with supplier representatives to ensure they are understood and implemented.
- Monitor supplier personnel activities, including witnessing operations, inspections, examinations, or tests to verify procurement document requirements have been met.
- Perform hands‑on inspections to re‑examine the efficacy of supplier inspection efforts and provide assurance of conformance of equipment or materials to procurement document requirements.
- Review supplier‑generated quality verification documentation to verify conformance to procurement document requirements.
- Reject nonconforming material and collaborate with the supplier and project supplier quality personnel to obtain a course of action to facilitate satisfactory disposition of disclosed non‑conformances.
- Release conforming material for shipment and notify other Bechtel functional organizations to assist in coordination of their activities.
- Evaluate supplier conformance to specified quality criteria on a specific assignment or group of assignments to provide input to recommendations for placement of future orders.
- Conduct surveys or audits of suppliers when assigned.
- Participate as an audit team member or technical resource for nuclear material and/or quality program audits.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience.
- Alternatively, 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with major commodities typically procured for semiconductor, datacenter, battery manufacturing or life science projects; familiarity with recognized codes and standards such as FDA/cGMP and manufacturing methods.
- In‑shop quality surveillance or related work experience.
- Experience performing project supplier quality functions of some complexity, including preparation of detailed inspection plans, full‑scope man‑hour and budget estimates, review of complex technical specifications, or establishment of corrective actions to resolve nonconformances that significantly impact project cost or schedule.
- Ability to provide guidance to other area supplier quality specialists and non‑technical support staff as assigned.
- Background as a lead auditor for conducting supplier quality system audits or capability surveys of prospective suppliers; experience with quality management programs including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS 9100, ISO 13485.
- Experience monitoring third‑party agency quality surveillance contractor personnel to assure proper implementation of project requirements.
- Training or certification in Lean or Six Sigma preferred.
- Prior experience in writing technical procedures, technical reports, and problem solving / root cause analysis.
