Fabrication Quality Inspector Job Description
Join a dynamic manufacturer specializing in custom‑engineered electrical gear for various sectors including energy, industrial, and critical infrastructure. We are seeking a dedicated Quality Control Technician for our fabrication department. The role involves performing visual inspections on welds, quality assessments of materials, and eventually addressing electrical issues. You will read blueprints and mechanical drawings, utilizing micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
The position also requires writing detailed inspection reports and non‑conformance reports (NCRs), identifying root causes of quality issues, and recommending corrective actions. Effective communication with both English and Spanish‑speaking employees is essential, and you may perform general labor tasks using hand and power tools.
- Perform visual inspections on welds and materials.
- Check for electrical issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Utilize micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Write inspection reports and non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
- Identify root causes of quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Communicate effectively with English and Spanish‑speaking employees.
- Perform general labor tasks using hand tools and power tools.
- 5+ years of quality control inspection experience in a fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in welding inspection.
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to write inspection reports and conduct root cause investigations.
- Capability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Work EnvironmentThe environment is non‑climate controlled with open bay doors and numerous fans. Expect a busy and fast‑paced production shop. Collaborate across different areas including electrical assembly, welding, machine, and powder coating shops. Dress code includes steel‑toed shoes, jeans, work shirt, and safety glasses. Day shift hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 6:00pm, typically working 11 hours a day, 5-6 days a week.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $46.00/hr.
