Analytical Chemist
Huntsman is seeking an Analytical Chemist supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Quality Manager.
Job ScopeThe Analytical Chemist is responsible for supporting production and quality operations through the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of ICP-MS instrumentation for ultra-trace metals analysis. This role ensures the delivery of accurate analytical results, supports high-throughput laboratory operations, maintains compliance with quality and safety requirements, and collaborates cross-functionally to meet manufacturing timelines. The position also provides technical leadership for technician training, method development, and continuous improvement initiatives within cleanroom and laboratory environments.
Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP-MS instrumentation for ultra-trace metals analysis.
- Perform daily instrument tuning, calibration, performance verification, and routine maintenance.
- Develop training plans for ICP-MS technicians, implement training programs, and monitor technician performance.
- Develop, optimize, validate, and execute analytical methods with low detection limits.
- Review analytical data for accuracy, trends, and compliance prior to reporting.
- Generate accurate and timely reports to support production and quality requirements.
- Work within cleanroom environments while adhering to contamination control, GMP, and safety procedures.
- Support rapid sample throughput while maintaining high analytical quality standards.
- Investigate analytical deviations, instrument issues, and out-of-specification results.
- Prepare standards, reagents, calibration solutions, and perform sample digestions as required.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, R&D, and Quality Management teams to prioritize urgent samples and support manufacturing timelines.
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and system records, including SAP.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on analytical efficiency, reliability, and turnaround times.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands‑on ICP‑MS experience in an industrial or production laboratory environment.
- Strong proficiency in ICP‑MS operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with daily instrument tuning, calibration, and performance verification.
- Experience in analytical method development and validation.
- Hands‑on experience with ultra‑trace metals analysis and low detection limit methodologies.
- Experience working in cleanroom environments and following contamination control procedures.
- Experience using SAP or similar enterprise systems.
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety, documentation, and quality systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment while managing multiple priorities.

- Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience in the semiconductor industry or high‑purity chemical manufacturing.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO, or semiconductor quality standards.
- Experience supporting 24/7 manufacturing or production operations.
- Knowledge of sample preparation techniques for trace metals analysis.
- Laboratory and cleanroom environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
- Compliance with contamination control procedures is required.
- May require flexible working hours or shift support based on production demands.
- Frequent interaction with laboratory equipment, chemicals, and analytical instrumentation in accordance with established safety procedures.
