Salary Range: $50 - $55k annually

Overview
The Quality & Compliance Specialist supports Healthcare for the Homeless – Houston (HHH)’s quality improvement, compliance, data reporting, and patient safety activities. Working under the direction of the Manager of Quality, Compliance, and Risk, this role assists with audits, data collection and reporting, regulatory documentation, quality tracking, and improvement projects across the organization.

This role is well suited for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with data, and interested in contributing to healthcare quality and compliance. Candidates may bring experience from healthcare quality, public health, compliance, data, healthcare operations, or a related field, with opportunities to both apply existing expertise and continue developing their skills.

Duties and Responsibilities Quality Monitoring and Improvement
  • Assist with routine chart reviews, internal audits, and quality checks using established tools and criteria.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize data related to clinical quality, patient experience, documentation, safety, and operational performance.
  • Maintain quality trackers, dashboards, scorecards, and other monitoring tools.
  • Identify trends or gaps requiring follow-up and support quality improvement projects, including patient experience and population health initiatives.
Compliance and Regulatory Support
  • Support ongoing monitoring of organizational compliance requirements, including HRSA, HIPAA, OSHA, UDS, CMS, and FTCA requirements.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain documentation needed for audits, site visits, regulatory submissions, and internal reviews.
  • Assist with policy and procedure tracking, including review dates, approvals, updates, and staff acknowledgments.
  • Perform routine compliance checks using established tools and procedures.
  • Help track corrective action plans and follow up with departments on outstanding items.
  • Support compliance training, recordkeeping, and documentation activities.
Data & Reporting Support
  • Enter, clean, validate, and organize data used for quality, compliance, grant, and organizational reporting.
  • Create and maintain routine reports, spreadsheets, tracking tools, and basic data visualizations.
  • Assist with preparing quality and performance data for leadership, committees, grants, and regulatory reporting.
  • Review data for completeness and accuracy and help investigate discrepancies.
  • Support UDS and other required reporting through data collection, validation, and documentation review.
EHR & Documentation Support
  • Assist with monitoring EHR documentation and workflows related to quality measures, screenings, and reporting requirements.
  • Help identify documentation gaps and communicate findings to the Manager of Quality, Compliance, and Risk.
  • Track Epic requests, reporting needs, workflow questions, and follow-up items with internal teams and Harris Health/IT partners.
  • Support testing and implementation of approved documentation or reporting workflow changes.
Risk & Patient Safety Support
  • Assist with maintaining incident and risk management tracking systems.
  • Compile incident information and support routine trend reporting.
  • Track follow-up activities, corrective actions, and documentation related to incidents and identified risks.
  • Support organizational patient safety and risk reduction initiatives.
Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Manager of Quality, Compliance, and Risk to support organizational quality and compliance priorities.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, administrative, and support teams to collect information and complete assigned quality and compliance activities.
