Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Auditor to perform field and facility-based quality audits and inspections of fabricators, manufacturers, suppliers, customer facilities, and project sites.
This position evaluates fabrication quality, workmanship, inspection practices, documentation, and compliance with applicable codes, specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in NDT, structural steel fabrication, welding inspection, supplier quality, or industrial quality auditing and is comfortable working independently and communicating findings directly with customers and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct on-site quality audits and inspections at fabricators, manufacturers, suppliers, customer facilities, and project sites.
- Evaluate fabrication processes, workmanship, inspection practices, material traceability, documentation, and overall quality-system effectiveness.
- Review quality documentation including inspection records, calibration records, nonconformance reports, corrective actions, material test reports (MTRs), welding procedures (WPSs), welder qualifications, coating/galvanizing records, and production documentation.
- Evaluate structural steel, utility structures, poles, lattice components, weldments, assemblies, coatings, galvanizing, and related fabricated components.
- Perform visual inspections and support or coordinate NDT, dimensional, coating, or other specialized inspection activities as required.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, procedures, codes, and customer requirements to determine conformance.
- Identify deficiencies, nonconforming conditions, documentation gaps, and opportunities for corrective action or process improvement.
- Prepare clear, detailed, and defensible audit and inspection reports with supporting documentation and photographs.
- Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations professionally to customers, fabricators, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Participate in audit kickoff meetings, closeout discussions, and corrective-action conversations.
- Provide guidance to inspectors and field personnel when needed.
- Maintain strong adherence to company, customer, OSHA, and site‑specific safety requirements.
- Travel extensively to customer, supplier, manufacturing, and project locations.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Nondestructive Testing (NDT LevelII or LevelIII)
- Structural steel fabrication or manufacturing
- Welding inspection
- Fabrication quality
- Quality auditing
- Supplier or fabricator auditing
- ISO
9001 or AISC quality systems - Utility structure inspection or manufacturing
- Industrial inspection or quality control
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as AWS, ASTM, ASME, AISC, ISO
9001, and OSHA.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and technical documentation.
Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and defensible reports.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to professionally communicate deficiencies and noncompliance issues.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound technical judgment in the field.
Preferred Qualifications- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- NDT LevelII or LevelIII certifications in UT, MT, PT, VT, or related methods
- ISO
9001 or AISC auditing experience - Supplier or fabrication audit experience
- OSHA
10 or OSHA
30 - Experience reviewing WPSs, PQRs, WPQRs, MTRs, inspection reports, coating documentation, galvanizing records, and production travelers
