Position: Research Assistant I

Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.

- 5 p.m.

Summary

A Research Assistant I position is available at the Center for Advanced Innate Cell Therapy within the Texas Children’s Cancer Center under the supervision of Dr. Gengwen Tian. This position will be part of an interdisciplinary team of laboratory and clinical investigators developing novel forms of cancer immunotherapy. Duties include blood and tissue sample processing, cell culture, molecular cloning, PCR, gene transduction, flow cytometry, in‑vitro functional assays of immune effector cells, and measuring anti‑tumor activity in mice.

Job Duties
  • Processes peripheral blood, isolates mononuclear cells and specific cell subsets.
  • Performs of expansion of lymphocytes in culture.
  • Performs retroviral/lentiviral transduction of cultured cells.
  • Performs CRISPR knockout on NKT and T cells.
  • Performs immunoflourescent staining and runs and runs flow cytometry analysis.
  • Analyses flow cytometry data using Flow Jo software.
  • Perform T or NKT cell culture and measure their antitumor activity.
  • Measure cytokine production using ELISA or Luminex assays.
  • Perform mouse experiments, such as IV injection, IP injection and luminescent imaging.
  • Documents results of experiments and prepare reports.
  • Performs molecular cloning and PCR.
  • Keep laboratory records.
  • Generates reports summarizing experimental results.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field (Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry).
  • Previous research experience.
